V-COMM Continues Public Safety Wireless Work in Cape May County, NJ

Cranbury, NJ (October 27, 2020)—V-COMM, a leading telecommunications engineering firm, was hired by Cape May County, New Jersey to continue the expansion of the County’s 700 megahertz (MHz) Project 25 (P25) system in conjunction with New Jersey’s Public Safety Interoperable Communications (PSIC) network.

The County’s new network is being built in conjunction with the State of New Jersey’s P25 network and provides interoperability for all agencies within the county and state. The expanded public safety wireless system will provide direct interoperability with Cape May County’s neighbors, Atlantic County and Cumberland County.

V-COMM is providing the engineering, FCC licensing and project management that will bring this network into existence.

V-COMM Awarded Contract, New Tower Build For Public Safety Radio System in Cumberland County, NJ

Cranbury, NJ (November 1, 2019)—V-COMM, a leading telecommunications engineering firm, was hired by Cumberland County, New Jersey to help enhance the County’s proposed 700 megahertz (MHz) Project 25 (P25) system and build a new wireless communications tower in Port Norris, located in Commercial Township, New Jersey.

V-COMM previously helped Cumberland County with new towers in Maurice River Township and Lawrence Township as part of a plan to migrate the County’s first responders to the Public Safety Interoperable Communications (PSIC) network.

“Several years ago, we developed a plan for the County to work with the State of New Jersey to develop an interoperable communications network with up-to-date features needed by first responders,” said Dominic Villecco, president of V-COMM. “It’s great to be a part of the effort to bring advanced communications to the first responders in Cumberland County.”

“Our plan all along was to develop a joint network with New Jersey,” said Gabe Scarpa, Director of 911 for Cumberland County. “The new tower in Port Norris is another step in the right direction to developing a reliable and robust radio communications system for first responders.”

“Several years ago, Cumberland County embarked on a plan developed by former Public Safety Director James Matlock to deliver high-quality radio communications for our first responders,” said Joe Derella, Freeholder Director of Cumberland County. “This new tower is yet another significant investment the County is making to achieve that vision.”

Deputy Freeholder Director and Public Safety Co-Liaison Darlene Barber explained, “Our first responders have done a wonderful job with an outdated network, but now is the right time to make an investment in the type of communications platform to handle today’s threats to public safety.”

In addition to improving existing sites around the county, V-COMM will also oversee the site development and installation of two new tower sites to enhance its county-wide public safety radio communications system. The system will serve first responders locally and provide state-wide interoperability.

V-COMM Wins Competitive Bid To Become Passaic County’s Strategic Planning Partner In Innovative Multi-City 5G Study

Cranbury, NJ (August 9, 2019)—The County of Passaic was named one of nine communities in New Jersey to receive a grant for the Innovative Challenge Program developed by the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (EDA) and chose V-COMM, LLC as its strategic planning partner.

With V-COMM’s help, Passaic County will develop a needs assessment for the Cities of Passaic and Paterson to evaluate building infrastructure and wireless network capabilities to install a high-speed 5G wireless and fiber network in both the commercial and industrial areas of Passaic and Paterson.

V-COMM is Passaic County’s exclusive advisor and expert engineering firm for the evaluation and recommendation of city-wide wireless networks, incorporating emerging 5G technologies to further economic development in the county.

V‑COMM President Receives NG911 Awareness Award

V‑COMM President Dominic Villecco received this year’s NG911 Awareness award at NG9-1-1 Institute’s 14th annual 911 Honor Awards Reception in Washington, D.C. on Tuesday, February 28.

Mr. Villecco received the award on behalf of the New Jersey Wireless Association (NJWA) and his efforts to raise awareness of 911 fee diversion in the State of New Jersey while serving as the association’s Vice President of the Board of Trustees and Chair of the Public Safety Committee.
