Three V-COMM Engineers Become CBRS Certified Professional Installers

V-COMM LLC, a leading telecommunications engineering firm,  announced that three members of their team now have CBRS CPI (Certified Professional Installer) certification, which grants them the ability to install or oversee the installation of CBRS Private LTE systems.

V-COMM Senior Engineer Jared Campbell, IS Supervisor Samuel Young, Jr., and Engineering Manager Justin Day have each earned his CBRS CPI certification in recent months.

CBRS stands for Citizens Broadband Radio Service, which is a relatively new wireless bandwidth that can be used for fixed and mobile Private LTE broadband access. The CBRS ecosystem brings better wireless Internet to more people in more places using Private LTE technologies. A CBRS CPI determines or validates the installation parameters of the CBSD and provides parameters to a Spectrum Access System.

“The CBRS band is often called the Innovation Band, as it has kickstarted an entire new generation of cutting-edge Private LTE wireless solutions. V-COMM has encouraged our engineering staff to pursue CBRS CPI certification to satisfy a growing need for our clients as the CBRS band and Private LTE systems are more widely deployed,” said Dominic Villecco, President of V-COMM. “Congratulations to Jared, Sam, and now Justin on earning this valuable certification.”

A V-COMM employee for 11 years, Justin Day has served as Engineering Manager since 2020 and was a senior engineer at the firm before that. He is iBwave Level 3 certified and is also certified in design, installation, and commissioning for JMA TEKO and Corning One. He has received his safety certification for SEPTA, DRPA, PATCO, Port Authority of NY/NJ, MTA, and Amtrak, and is SWAC certified as well.

Jared Campbell is an eight-year V-COMM team member who is also iBwave Level 2 certified and possesses certifications in design, installation, and commissioning for JMA TEKO equipment and CommScope ERA commissioning. He has also received numerous safety certifications for improving wireless communications on transportation projects, including the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA) for the New York City Subway system.

Sam Young has been with V-COMM for more than 20 years with previous experience in Department of Defense projects. He has helped develop V-COMM’s suite of software and field-testing tools, has assisted with Electromagnetic Emission Studies, and helps ensure V-COMM’s engineering team is properly equipped with the tools needed to optimize wireless networks for its clients. He now has his CBRS CPI certification in addition to numerous other IP-related certifications and experience gained in the past 20 years.
